So I think it comes down to someone having to decide whether the development effort to support something will result in significant return in the investment. Sync 4.5 - because as it stands the 2000 version is ruled out (although I believe it works with AS 4.2, my Windows Mobile 6 device needs AS 4.5 minimum).

It would be great, if mobile Devices, running Windows Mobile could syncronize with Windows Mail & Contacts. And it schould also sync with Windows Calendar, otherwise these apps are not as useful as they could be. In Vista alone, you can now hook any PPC to it and browse it, without installing anything. Not quite the USB drive functionality we wanted, but close. Once it is ready, WMDC will be retrieved from Windows Update if a Windows Mobile device is attached and you want it to be retrieved, for normal sync functions.

This is still in Beta, but you should be able to find it, possibly even through Windows Update. With Vista you do have a new capability

The difference is that XP uses ActiveSync and Vista uses Windows Media Device Center as the sync application. Later versions of each product have pretty similar features. There is still the limitation that a Windows Mobile device can only have two partners. You should be OK with what you listed, but you couldn't
